About the Opera House

Rockingham Town Hall, in the center of Bellows Falls, Vermont, with its distinctive 1926 six-story clock tower and Classical Revival architecture, is a downtown landmark. The Bellows Falls Opera House, with 553 fixed seats (372 on the main floor, 181 in the balcony), located within, boasts one of the largest movie screens in Vermont, full stage and dressing rooms, and serves as the cultural and civic heart of our region.

Municipal offices for the Town of Rockingham and Village of Bellows Falls are housed on the second and third floors of the building. There is a secondary stage in the basement known as the Lower Theater, which also serves as the location for most municipal meetings. The Opera House itself is used for Town Meeting the first Monday in March and for Village Meeting the first Monday in May. The building, which underwent a major renovation 2004-2006, is municipally owned and maintained.
